Berry Aviation Secures SOCOM Airlift Contract in Afghanistan

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, August 23, 2016 - Berry Aviation, Inc., a provider of specialized airlift solutions and other aviation services, announced today that it has been awarded a government contract to provide fixed wing air transportation in support of U.S. Military efforts in Afghanistan. Under this contract—valued at $161 million over five years if all option periods are exercised—Berry Aviation will provide airlift transportation for passengers, cargo, and aero-medical evacuation patients in support of U.S. Special Operations Command’s involvement in the region. This award comes on the heels of another award in 2015 to provide air transportation for U.S. Military training operations conducted off the California coast.

“We understand the importance of our customers’ missions and have made a tremendous effort to expand capability for them in the past several years,” commented Sonny Berry, President and CEO of Berry Aviation. “While we hope it is seldom needed, the addition of a highly crucial service like aero-medical evacuation support in Afghanistan reflects the reputation for reliability our team has built since entering the country in 2010.”

Berry Aviation began flying for the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) in 1987 as a courier of classified mail and has since grown its Government Services offering to include a variety of critical mission support services with world-wide operational capability. In the recent past, the company has expanded the scope of airlift services contracted out by the DOD through the development of innovative multirole platforms, has paved way for the fixed wing industry’s development of night-vision assisted flight operations, and has developed rapid response aero-medical evacuation programs capable of operating into extremely remote locations and providing a full range of life support.

Berry Aviation, Inc. is a trusted leader in private aviation, with a portfolio of services that includes Government, Private Charter, both Scheduled and On-Demand Freight, Maintenance, and FBO operations. Since its founding in 1983, BAI has grown into a dynamic company with a focus on providing innovative solutions within the Aerospace industry that increase value for customers and end-users.
